" Lava Interview "Under the Sunlight Bellydancer"
Lava has been studying, performing and teaching bellydance since 1999. Her biggest influence in bellydance is Carolena Nericcio (Fat Chance Belly Dance), with whom she studies as often as she can with dedicated practice. Lava is founder/director/choreographer for “Sisters of Alchemy” - her tribal fusion troupe. With a diverse background in theatre, music, yoga, film and television studies, and many dance forms (ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip hop, Can Can, middle eastern dance, tribal style and tribal fusion, Bharata Natyam, Odissi...), Lava has developed (SOA)'s style into its "rockin-lockin" & "smooth-groove".
She is currently producing new works, for Sisters of Alchemy, for her full length show "Dark Arts & Parlour Tricks" - 2010 version premiered at June 14 SOA Tribal Soiree!! - more to come!
Lava is also producer of her "Sisters of Alchemy's Tribal Soiree" - Tribal Mixer Dance Parties! - stay tuned for dates for the next one!...
As performer, choreographer, instructor and musician, Lava is devoted to tribal style. Grateful for the many opportunities and friendships it has brought into her life, she will continue to contribute to the world of tribal bellydance for as long as she possibly can.
